My Story

I’ve always lived at the intersection of science, creativity, and deep curiosity about the natural world. Before I ever imagined founding a textile innovation company, I was a biology student who loved nothing more than understanding how things work - from cellular pathways to complex ecosystems. That early fascination never left me; it simply evolved alongside the rest of my life.

My love of wine began the same way: with the science behind it. I became captivated by the way soil composition, grape physiology, fermentation chemistry, and environmental stewardship all converge to create something both beautiful and meaningful. Over the years, my appreciation for wine expanded into an admiration for the people and regions behind it - especially the Niagara Region and Napa Valley, where sustainability is not just a philosophy but a culture.

Becoming a mother fundamentally altered how I saw the world and my place within it. Having two young boys has sharpened my awareness of the environment they will inherit and deepened my resolve to be part of creating solutions rather than contributing to the problems. I want them to grow up in a world where innovation and responsibility coexist naturally - where industries take sustainability seriously, where waste becomes possibility, and where creativity fuels real-world impact.

Grapevine Futures was born from that belief.

I saw a simple but powerful opportunity: the vast amount of grape pomace left behind after winemaking  - rich in natural fibres, pigments, and potential. What if we could transform that unused material into something valuable, durable, and beautiful? What if the by-products of a cherished agricultural process could become part of a circular, climate-conscious future?

This company is an extension of everything I care about: scientific curiosity, a love of wine and its culture, meaningful innovation, and the desire to build a more sustainable future for the next generation. It’s about honouring tradition while imagining new possibilities. And at its core, it’s about creating something that my boys can look to one day and say, “This is what emerges when you refuse to accept the world as it is and choose to build what it could be.”

My Vision

I envision a future where sustainability is not a compromise, but a standard of excellence. A future where the world’s most beautiful materials are also the most responsible. Where innovation honours the land it draws from, and where luxury and environmental stewardship move forward together, not in opposition.

Grapevine Futures is my commitment to that future.

I believe that the by-products of winemaking - materials once considered waste - can become something extraordinary when we approach them with scientific curiosity, design thinking, and respect for nature’s intelligence. My vision is to transform grape pomace into a refined, high-performance textile that stands shoulder-to-shoulder with traditional luxury materials, but with a fraction of the environmental impact.

This work is about more than creating a product; it’s about reshaping expectations. I want to demonstrate what’s possible when we reconsider the value of what we already have, when innovation is rooted in ethics, and when sustainability becomes an expression of artistry rather than limitation.

Ultimately, my vision extends beyond the laboratory or the vineyard. It reaches into the world my two boys will grow up in. I want them to inherit an industry transformed - one that celebrates circularity, prioritizes environmental responsibility, and elevates design without extracting more from an already burdened planet.

Grapevine Futures is my way of contributing to that transformation: a blend of science, craftsmanship, and purpose that reimagines what luxury can be - and what our future should look like.
